my windshield wipers are not working and my driver side windo will not go back up without playing with is for ten minutes or more

The window is probably due to the master switch on the drivers side door needing to be replaced.  Under $100 bucks for that and only a phillips screwdriver is needed to change it.  The wipers are a different story.  if there is no noise in any position then the motor could be burnt out.  Check by hotwiring it and if it works then the switch is bad and if it does not work replace the motor.  A wrecking yard for either is a good choice to save money.
