Nissan Repair: 1994 Nissan Micra Alarm Problems, nissan micra, keyfob

Question
Hi. This is a car I don't use much, but unfrotunately, I left the interior light on once, and the battery has gone flat. I tried to start it off my other car, but everytime I connect the jump leads, the alarm cuts in, and I can't turn it off. The little black key fob with the red button is broken, as I know from the previous owner, but even locking and unlocking the drivers side door has no effect. What should I do?

Answer
Jamie,

Take the battery and have it fully charged.  Then, if it is an aftermarket alarm flip the valet switch.  If it is a Nissan alarm take the fuse out for the alarm and reconnect the charged battery and you should be fine.  Then start the car and reinsert the fuse.  If it is a factory alarm I would get a new keyfob and get it programmed.
