Nissan Repair: Nissan Serena 2.3d, nissan serena, fire watcher

Question
I have just changed the coolant in my Nissan Serena 2.3d. I removed the hose at the bottom of the radiator and let the old coolant run out. I then replaced the hose and filled the radiator. I ran the engine with the cap off incase there was an air lock.My heater is now not working and my temperature gauge is going up and down. Is there a bleed screw that I should look at?

Also.

I have an intermittent fault in my immoboliser. When the vehicle is cold it starts and runs no problem, however if you turn the engine off and try and start it again, it will not (not untill the engine has cooled down). I have been told by my main Nissan dealer that there is a fault in the fuel pump (this after they charged me about 300.00 for fixing a fault that did,nt exist). I have just purchased a secondhand pump and am wondering how to fit it?

Thanks

Answer
Glen,

Depending on your year there is a bleed screw.  If you cannot find it and it is located on the thermostat housing or the metal water line on the engine.  Now, if you cannot find it you can loosen up the heater hose and with the heater on run the engine until water comes out.  You will have to do both hoses if the first heater hose does not burp the air out.  Refill the radiator and you should have the problem solved.

The fuel pump is in the tank and depending on your year you might be able to access it from the inside of the car under the rear seat.  If there is a cover under the seat you remove the cover and then the pump.  If no cover exists then you have to drop the tank to get to the pump.  In either case be sure to have a fire extinguisher handy and a fire watcher incase of fire.  Under no circumstances have a drop light in the area.  Use a flashlight or a sealed fluorescent light to avoid the possibility of fire.
