Nissan Repair: nissan alternator output, alternator output, haynes manual

on a 93 nissan pu 4cyl 2wd, my friend tried replacing my alternator, truck blew the "fuse link"? on the pos battery cable, as the battery was being hooked back up, however even after replacing this "fuselink" it did it again just as the battery was hooked up (not running no keys in ignition)he couldent fix it,,asked my ex and he says its the output wires, 3 of them, 2 to a pole and 1 to a small round thing fastened to the back be he doesnt know the order to do this  can you help? and whats the round thing?

The field has a wire and the battery positive connects to the alternator.  If he has the alternator positive wire that goes to the battery going to the ground on the alternator case there is where the problem will be.  Basically, the case is grounded by virtue of the alternator being bolted to the engine.  The fields are what turn the alternator on and the battery wire is where the alternator provides power to the battery and the car for running all the electrical items.  Get a Haynes manual and have him look at the photograph of how the wires are run and the appropriate color code.  The other thing he can do is look at another Nissan pickup of the same year or close to see that he has that one wire on the wrong post on the alternator.
