Nissan Repair: 2005 Nissan Quest front wheel stud replcement, wheel bearings, axle shaft

Question
Von, to replace a broken front wheel stud does the axle shaft have to be removed or can it be done just by pulling the brake callipar and disk?

Answer
Steve,

Yes, you can change it with only taking the rotor, caliper and torque member off.  The torque member is the thing the caliper goes on and it has to come off to get the rotor off.  Be sure to use a stud removed and not a hammer to get the stud out or you will damage the wheel bearings.  Also, to get the new stud in grease up the splines and use  a stack of washers and lubricant and an impact wrench if you have one along with a lug nut to suck the new one into place.  Then clean it up and reassemble it and you are there.
