Nissan Repair: 1995 Nissan Maxima Starting Trouble, nissan maxima, combustion chamber

Question
I have a 1995 base model Nissan Maxima with 74k miles.  Lately I have been having trouble getting it to turnover when I start it.  I need to hold it for several seconds before it finally starts.  I had the spark plugs and battery replaced recently, but it is still difficult to start.
Thanks,

Answer
Garrett,

Make sure the plugs are not Bosch.  I have used these in the Maxima and have had to change them out.  I guess they do not work well with the combustion chamber design.  Be sure to change the fuel filter if it is not plug related.  Now, if you are sayiing the engine turns over slow I would check the starter and the charging system to make sure the alternator is putting out enough power to keep the battery fully charged.  Remember, the battery is only a storage device and if it is not getting enough from the alternator when you drive it is not going to want to turn over the engine with enough force to get it started.
