i have a 2000 nissan maxima gle 3.0 V6 , i need to pass the ill. dept of emmission's test. the code is p1490 on the obd repair diagnostic report, it is a part called the vacuum cut valve bypass valve, i would like to change it myself can you tell me where it is located? or if i can obtain a diagram to this part? and what tools i will need to do this repair? thank you DVR

The vacuum cut valve is located on the intake.  Buy the new one and you can see it when you open the hood.  I think the only tools required are a ten millimeter wrench and a pair of plyers.  Disconnect the battery for a frew minutes to reset the code.  Before you take it in for the smog check drive it few times to get the computer out of learning mode.  Basically, drive it onto the highway and back to the house and turn the engine off.  Do this three times and the car will be out of learning mode.  If you take the car in for inspection before this the computer will tell on you that the computer was reset recently and you will not pass the smog check.
