Nissan Repair: Replacing Starter, 1996 nissan 200sx, nissan 200sx

Hi,

I have 1996 Nissan 200sx and I need to replace the starter. Most mech. have told me that its less than a hour to change out so I thought it could not be that hard and would  do it myself. I need make sure where it is on the car before I attemp to do this job. Can you help?

Jack up the car and put jackstands under it and look at the bellhousing and you will see the starter on the side of the engine.  Disconnect the battery before you do the replacement as the large cable is hot when the battery is connected.  Other than that you should have no problem.
