Nissan Repair: ignition switch wires, time control, nissan

Question
I just had to remove a broken key out of my 93 nissan p/u ignition. there is two wires connected to the actual Metal ignition cylinder itself. (I think it is a intermitten time control rheostat) one wire is blue other is red, what do these wires do? I have accidently broke them off on the cylinder, can these be safely ignored or do I need to somehow connect them back? I tried contacting several nissan parts and service at dealerships but they cant or (wont) give me an answer.

Answer
Trea,

I don't know the answer either.  My bet is that they run the lighted ignition key and/or the assessory.  I would solder them back on or get another cylinder.  The reason that I do not know is that I always have replaced the eitire cylinder when I have worked on one.  And, that is probably why the Nissan guys did not know either.  The only way to know is to get the wiring diagram and trace the wires.
