Nissan Repair: V belt Squeal, nissan pickup, driven devices

Question
I have a 1987 Nissan Pickup, 2WD Z24 2.4L engine. When I start my engine my V-belt makes a very loud squeal. It squeals for about 10-15 secs on average and then it stops. Sometimes when I am driving it will come back if I am in 2nd or 3rd gear. If I start it up within maybe a half hour or less from when I drove it last it will not squeal but anything after that it will everytime. I have replaced the belt twice and each time afterwards for a couple days the squeal stops but then it comes back. I used quite a bit of leverage to tighten that sucker up so I know it is tight. I have been suggested that it might be a cracked pulley or I might need to put some belt dressing on it. I have used the same style belt in the past though and have never needed belt dressing. Please Help!

Answer
Purchase a Nissan belt and make sure that the pulley on both the drive and driven devices are in good order.  It wouuld not be due to cracking that it is squealing.  I would get some rough san paper and scuff up both pulleys where the belt rides before replacement.  And, the reason I say go with a Nissan belt is due to the aftermarket ones being too thin.  This allows the belt to ride in the grooves too deep and that also contributes to the squeel.  Lastly, be sure you have checked the driven devices for binding.  I know of one that I did where the alternator was binding up and I had not checked the free wheeling of the driven pulleys.  That was it in that instance where the alternator bushings were dry and when the belt would slip it would scream.
