Nissan Repair: Sentra Wheel Bearings, wheel drive cars, rear wheel drive cars

Question
How difficult is it to replace a front wheel bearing on a '95 Sentra GXE? I was quoted a price of $350 from my local garage which seemed very high to me. I have replaced bearings in the past on rear wheel drive cars but never on a front wheel drive - is there much difference?

Answer
The front bearing is pressed so the spindle has to come off the car to press the bearing out and in.  Plus, you get an alignment if they do not put the spindle back on exaclty.  So, $350 is not bad unless you have the press and power tools at home to do the job.  It is a royal pain to perform and I have done several.  If you are getting one done I would suggest getting the other one done since you will be doing it soon if the other one is already going.
