Nissan Repair: No Brake Lights, light the fuse, correct switch

Question
Thanks for your response. I checked the lower of the two brake switches. When I had the lower one disconnected the third brake light was still working properly. I assumed the other switch was for the third brake light.

1993 Nissan Quest. Four-ways work, blinkers work, third brake light works, tail lights work, rear brake light will not work when the brake pedal is depressed. I checked the brake switch and checked to see if power goes to the brake switch. Both checked out ok. I also put in new bulbs (the sockets look good)and used a meter to determine that there is no juice when I press on the brake pedal gping tp the brake light. The fuse is good. Why won't the brake lights work? Thanks

Did you check the correct switch on the brake arm?  There is a shift interlock and a brake switch.  Check that and get back with me if you still have a problem.

Answer
Now I understand the problem.  I was following a Quest home tonight and it had no brake lights.  There must be a problem with the wiring betweent he switch and the bulbs.  No trailer lights wired in?  If there are there might be the source of the problem.  If that is not the problem you will have to follow the harness back to the lights and find the open or short.  Since the third light works you might wire into that plug and wire around the short to the sockets and your brake lights will work again.
