Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1995 GM Aurora overheating, coolant recovery, fan clutch

Question
Hi, I have a 1995 GM Aurora that has high Km. It has been overheating for a few weeks now, If i am on the highway or driving steady it is fine it does not overheat but if i am in the city in stop and go traffic it heats up fast.  I have changed the thermostat and check the fuss and the fans are running fine but it still overheats. I am not sure what else to do and i am running out of ideas and money cause as i am sure you know they are not cheap to repair.

Thank you

Answer
Hello Caden,
Check the transmission fluid for correct level, and to see if the fluid looks burnt. It could be slipping, and that will cause overheating in town.
Also, when the engine is cool, make sure the radiator is full of coolant. Not just the coolant recovery tank, but inside the radiator itself.

Does that have electric fans? Or a belt driven fan. If one of them is belt driven, then the fan clutch would be suspect.
