Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 86 Oldsmobile Ciera- Starting Trouble, oil pressure switch, oldsmobile ciera

Question
Hi Van,
I bought an 86 Olds Ciera 6 Cyl
In the morning when i start it needs several pumping (accelerator) gas if i take my leg off the pedal it will stop. It needs at least 40 seconds high pedal to stay alive. Is this due to the wires/ Spark plug/ Rotor/cup?
When I took the wire off the spark plug some thing like petroleum jelly found at the plug tip. Is that corrosion or real petroleum jelly/ similar stuff put by the electrician?
Third issue is while driving the car when stop at signal etc the choke indicator light blinks, what causes that?
Fourth question, for an 86 Model Olds what is the normal mileage (KM/liter) I should expect?
I know some of the questions are vague, but Van if you could reply to me I would be very happy.
Thanks
Abraham

Answer
I would say it is due to the choke needing adjusted.
The petroleum jelly may be a dielectric grease. I assume they all have it?
There is a choke heater circuit that is operated by an oil pressure switch, but grounds under one of the rivets on the carb I believe. make sure it is tight.

I'd expect about 20 to 25 MPG.
