Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: oldsmobile wont start, gas tank, fuel filter

Question
i have a 1995 olds 88. i got gas at a gas station then came back home. later i was driving and it started to spit and sputter, so i pulled over and turned it off. then, when i tried to start it it won't start now. i checked the fuel pump and filter by disconnecting the lines and seen that gas was spraying, so i assumed ithey were fine. just wondering if you have any ideas what it could be. thank you

Answer
Hello Judi,
Unhook that fuel filter again, prefferably on the gas tank side of it, and catch about a pint of gas in a clean clear jar, and let it sit for a few minutes.
Sounds like you got some water in the tank. It will form a bubble of water in the bottom of the jar, and will be easy to see....unless you get a full pint of pure water.
