Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Pontiac Achieva Speedometer, speedometer needle, autohelp

The speedometer on our 1996 Achieva will start to work, but when it reaches about 15 MPH it drops off. I've had the sending unit changed but it still does it. Any ideas? What would be the estimated cost for repair?

Inside of the speedometer (display) there is a STEPPER motor that has a small plastic gear that strips the teeth off and will not drive your speedometer needle.

You need to disassemble the cluster assembly and replace the ANALOG SPEEDOMETER STEPPER MOTOR.
