Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 89 buick lesabre, mass airflow sensors, fuel injection cleaner

Hello Van,
my 1989 lesabre 3.8 V6 runs great except for 1 thing:she doesn't start when temps are below about 25 degrees. Other than that, she runs fine. In fact, once I do get it started on those cold mornings, she is fine the rest of the day- starts right up. But 1st cold start in the morning she cranks, sputters, etc. and usually eventually starts.   My mechanic said there is a temp sensor or cold start module in the throttle body which may be bad, so we are trying to find a tb unit from a junkyard- no luck so far. Do you think that is the problem? I have tried fuel injection cleaner, changed the plugs, air filter, shot carb cleaner down the tb... no good. If it stays in garage overnight, she starts eventually. Unfortunately that means my sportscar stays outside, which of course is unacceptable. Any advice is appreciated.
Have a good one.
Thanks, Phil

Hi Phil,
When that link opens, if it only opens about one page, go to the top right hand corner area, and click on "flat".

You may even want to sign up for the Chevy Talk forum. it is free, and has a ton of good information.

Van- I don't see a link...
Meanwhile I will check out the Chevy Talk forum.
Thanks,
Phil

Answer
Actually, it didn't show as a link, but copy and paste it and it will take you to a temp sensor discussion.

Here is another site for a different item, but one that you may find interesting.
It is about cleaning Mass Airflow Sensors. It happens to be a Ford discussion, but they operate the same, and it is interesting.
