Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: abs and brake system lights on, wheel sensors, pontiac transport

Question
Van, thanks for your help. It wasn't either bulbs or switch though so I'll keep on trying. Good info to put away for another time. Gary-------------------------

Van, any thought on this one? 97 Pontiac Transport van. ABS and system warning lights came on and stay on. Brakes and ABS are working fine, fluid up, pedal feels good, no sign of leaks. All fuses seem ok. Had a wheel sensor go bad some time ago but this only had ABS light on that time. What do you think? Gary

Hi Gary,
If several lights come on, I would check to be sure the ignition switch is operating properly. Wiggle the key, and make sure it isn't staying just a little bit past run.

I once had a problem where the high mount brake light bulbs were burnt out, and the ABS light came on every time I began moving. Cruise also didn't work till I replaced those bulbs.

Answer
Hi Gary,
There is a possibility there is something in the ABS causing a light.
You had said system warning light"s", so I was thinking possibly oil and gen lights also.
If you live in a northern state, there was a service bulliten not too long ago about removing the wheel sensors, and cleaning rust caused by road salt, from the sensor wheel.

Google search for abs bulletins.
