Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1999 Olds Intrigue Oil Usage, smoke oil, intrigues

I have a 99 Intrigue with the 3.5L engine and 74k miles.  It uses oil at a rate of about 1qt per 1000 miles, but I have no leaking and no indication of burning it off through the exhaust.  Are the early Intrigues prone to this, or is there something wrong?

hi john. well yes the early 3.5 eng was prone to burning some oil.if there is no sign of this,now would be a great time to trade it in.now a quart every 1000 but soon smoke oil knock ,etc major engine repairs ahead.if you want to keep it around for awhile then you will have some expenses comeing up in the near future..hope this helps wish i had better news but let,s just face it sugarcoating does nothing lol.please rate my help ty billymac
