Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 92 Oldsmobile electrical problem?, dodge dakotas, air control valve

Question
Hello.  I'm having problems keeping my Oldsmobile running.  If I don't keep it revving, it stalls.  Dash lights and clock are blinking.  Lights, fan and stereo are turned off; however, when trying to start the vehicle the parking lights come on.  After I turn off ignition and keep keys in off position, dash lights remain on.

Is there a way to figure out this mess?  I was recently forced to install a new (very expensive) alternator.  It appears to be turning.  Vehicle has plenty of fuel.

Thank you for any help you may be able to give.
Michael

Answer
Hello Michael,
Sounds like either the idle air control valve, or low fuel pressure.
I would unhook the battery for several seconds, just to see if that helps. I have seen Dodge Dakotas that if the battery went dead, and was recharged without disconnecting it, the truck would not idle. Ever...till the battery was unhooked, then reconnected.

The Idle air control can be cleaned with carb cleaner spray, even without removing it usually.

Fuel filter is a possibility.
