Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1992 oldsmobile cutlas supreme, oldsmobile cutlas supreme, fuel pressure gauge

Question
My car stalls weather it be idling or in motion.  I have had the ECM, ICM, fuel pressure regulator, filters, spark plugs and wires changed.  I've also had the fuel injectors cleaned and the car still stalls.  Sometimes it will start back up immediately or I have to wait till it cools down. Please help me out before I shoot this car.  The car is an 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlas Supreme, 3.1 L, V6

Answer
Hi Mary,
I don't recommend just guessing at what might be wrong, and replacing parts. A systematic approach can find the problem, and just replace the culprit.
It may be that the fuel pump is quitting. But that isn't to blame the pump.
I would connect a fuel pressure gauge where I can see it while driving, and then go for a ride. When the car starts to die, look at the gauge. If there is still good pressure, then consider the pump ok.
But if the pressure drops before the engine dies, then concentrate on the pump, and its controls and wires.
Even without a gauge, you should be able to hear the pump in the tank run for about three seconds after the key is turned to run. But without the gauge, you don't know if it is pumping fuel or not.
There is a crank sensor that is a possibility also, but again, I wouldn't just replace parts.
At the public library, refference section, you can read manuals that give troubleshooting charts for your car.
