Plymouth Repair: 1989 Plymouth Sundance, vacuum leaks, plymouth sundance

Question
A friend of mine has a 1989 Sundance with the 2.5L non turbo 4 cyl. EFI(single injector) engine. The other day; not long after getting gas, his car started running very rough. He managed to get it to the parking lot where he works. The car now will start and only stay running if you pump the gas pedal. Even this does not keep it running long. My first thought was about the gas he had just filled up with. I explained to him that sometimes if you are unlucky and get to the service station just after they fill the underground tanks, you might get some dirty gas. So following this idea I changed the fuel filter. this has not helped. I checked and changed the gasket on his gas cap. My next step is to syphon the gas out of the tank and check it for water etc. I should have done that before changing the fuel filter. As you can see I am starting with the cheaper fixes, but so far nothing has worked. My next step will be to check for vacuum leaks and check wire connections to the fuel injector etc. Any other suggestions before I get to the fuel pump or change the injector? I bought some hand cleaner yesterday at an industrial supply Co. and told the guy behind the counter what I was doing. He said he was doing the same thing with his daughter's car. Guess what...her's is an '89 Sundance with the same problem! He gave me his card and asked me tto contact him when I solve the problem. Small world!
Thanks

Answer
Hello
i would drain that gad and dis. the fuel filter line and turn it over and see if you are geting gas .
you might have dirt ask your frend how low was the gas tank when he filled it and have him call this gas station and see if they had any other complaints with the gas on that day
and you can get a gas test kit at any parts store so you can check for water .

please rate my serivice
