Auto Insurance Claims: help with uk insurance, insurance regulation, speeding fine

Question
Hi, I’m looking for someone who can help me? I had a car accident last June were I ran into the back of a parked car, there were no injuries but damage to both cars (mine was a write off) I informed my insurance company, admiral, who dealt with it. Then in August someone drove straight into the back of me at a roundabout. During a phone call to the garage to fix my car I was informed my licence had been revoked 3 years ago!! (I had a speeding fine in 2005, I paid the fine but was never told to send my licence away for points) This was the first I had heard of any problems with my licence and have since sent it away and received an apology from the DVLA for their mistake. Now Admiral have told me my insurance is cancelled and I have never been covered. I have now been hit with a bill for £4500 for the first accident even though I have paid over £1500 for my insurance (which wont be refunded as they are using them for their ‘costs’) Can anyone tell me if I need to pay this fine or do I have a case to argue?

Answer
Hi Louise,

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with UK insurance or motor vehicle laws as I am in The USA I would suggest that you contact your Department of Insurance Regulation to determine your best course of action.

I hope this helps
