Plymouth Repair: Transmission bang/buck and leakage, plymouth voyager, good luck

Question
We have a 98 Plymouth Voyager.  My boyfriend was driving our van and he said it bucked hard and made a bang noise and then when he pulled over it was leaking tranny fluid all over, he then drove it back home and he said that the transmission was working fine, no slipping or anything, but the fluid comes right out quite quickly.  We have not driven it since and were told it probably needs a new tranny, but if that is the case why did it drive home fine?  Please help!

this could be just a line leakeing i would check where the rad is thire are two colling lines comeing out of it.
Might just a simpile fix have it checked by some one who is honest.
