Pontiac Repair: 1991 Pontiac Trans Sport, pontiac trans sport, coil wire

I was driving and it just died and won't start. Fuel pump seems to be working since gas going to carb. Will turn over but will not catch seems like a spark issue...any ideas?

Hi Rico:

check for spark with what is called a spark checker. it looks like a spark plug but has a clamp on it. unplug the coil wire and hook the sprak tester to the coil wire and then attach the clamp to comething metal on the engine. crank the engine and see if it indeed has spark. if not then chance are it has a bad coil. with out seeing it I can't tell you for sure this is just a guess. the fact that it has fuel "sort" of rules out an issue inside the distributor.
