Pontiac Repair: 1999 Pontiac GPrix starting problem, fuel issues, security light

Question
Hi, I have a 1999 GPrix that is a 3.8 non turbo.  I went to start my car today and it only cranks but will not start unless I press on gas pedal.  It will start immed. if I depress gas pedal but will IMMEDIATELY die once I remove foot from gas pedal.  It has never had any starting/fuel issues (actually, never had any real issues at all...)and I do not normally need to give it any fuel to start.
I can hear fuel pump working, and it is not out of gas (has over half a tank).  What may cause this to happen?  Thanks so much.

Answer
Hi Allison:

is there a security light on and or flashing when you start this? If so then there is more then likley an issue with the passkey system it's the factory anti theft system. You sya this is just the regular 3800 not super charged? the super charged ones had issue with the fulel pump resistor for the dual speed pump. The non super charged version does not have this. If the secuity lamp is on try your extra key and see what happens. That is where I would start looking. good luck :-)
