Pontiac Repair: 1997 Pontiac Bonneville SSE, pontiac bonneville, dumb place

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville SSE and by accident my trunk lockout was activated.  The manual says to override the system is by using your car alarm remote. Well I dont have a remote, when I bought the car it didnt have one. Is there any kind of different way to override the lockout w/o a remote?

ANSWER: Hi Christopher:

Does the trunk lock cylinder not work and you can't get in the trunk now? They way you have this worded I'm not sure what your issue is here.

QUESTION: Not sure. The trunk was opened while at the car wash after buying the car. Opened from trunk release button on driverside door panel. My wife thought it was the compressor switch the seller spoke of. Well we found that it would not open when we got home and couldnt get our things out of the trunk. So is there another way to bypass abd get into trunk?

Answer
If the trunk will not open with the lock cylinder Via the key you kind of in a pickle. If it's an SSE it should have the seating option of the trunk trough from the back seat to the trunk. Not sure if that old of a Bonneville has the relase safety lever or not???? all the new cars have a child safety lever that glows in the dark it's a white lever that you can reach tough from the pass thu and pull down on the release. If not you going to have to take the back seat out and reach in with a screw driver flat blade and turn the lever for the trunk latch with the screw driver. Not an easy tack. That switch in the trunk is a switch that turns off the trunk relase from the switche and the remote. It's a dumb place for it. Hope that helps.
good luck :-)
