Pontiac Repair: car shuts off, purge valve, pontiac grand prix

QUESTION: Hello i have a 2005 Pontiac grand prix that shuts off when ever i fuel up i thought i might be overfilling but it wasn't the case any idea or suggestions would help.

I'm not quite sure I under stand what your question is here. after you fill the car up it stalls on a start up? or you are keeing the engine running while your filling it up and it stalls out?

QUESTION: The car is always off whenever i fill it up, i am able to turn the car on but it will only stay on for a few seconds then stall out unless i press the accelerator

has the check enegin lamp come on at al? if so stop by one of the big box auto parts stores and have it scanned for codes and see what if any are stored... it's one of 2 things eithet the emission purge valve is stuck opne and when you fill up the tank it pushing fuel vapor up into the engine and running the engine too rich thus the stall or the charcole canisfter is over loaded and when the engine wnats to purge(burn) the vapor form the canister it's getting too much due to the canister being saturated. I don't have any other explanation.. good luck :-0
