Question
Hi, i just got my fiero out of storage and it has been stored in a building for the past 17 years we are trying to get it to run again when we put it up it ran fine but now after getting a new battery and cleaning the battery cables and useing gas treatment it has power when i put the key in but will not do anything when i try to get it to turn over

Answer
Hi alex:

well it can be a lot of things if it was in storage that long it could have had some rodent damage and chewed up wiring or it can be something as simple as a bad starter motor. have someone try to crank the car while you check for battery voltage at the starter motor the small purple wire is the "crank" signal to the starter. if you have voltage there the motor is more then likely bad replace the whole assembly. if not you have to trace the power flow back from the starter into the transmission safety switch or the cluth pedal switch if it's a stick shift. and see where your loosing the power back to the starter. This could also have burt up fusable links depending on if this a 4 cylinder or a V6 they are at the starter motor and also near the battery cables at the battery.Onle last though make sure the engine will turn over you may want to put a socket on the front crank pulley bolt and make sure it will spin over and is not seized up from sitting. One last thing when you do get this up and running again change all the fluids in it coolant/engine oil and trans fluid or gear oil if it's a stick shift. good luck :-]
