Pontiac Repair: electrical problems, pontiac grand prix, back lighting

QUESTION: I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix and I am currently experiencing an outing in the lights on the dashboard of the car. It doesn't allow me to see how fast I'm going or the speed?..

QUESTION: Yes the back lighting, it doesn't light up or tell how fast you going, how much gas you have etc.

How about the backlighting on the other dash components like the HVAC contol head and the radio does the back lighting work for those. If it doesn't work I would suspect the headlamp/interior lamp dimming switch is bad.  If just the backilightin on the Dash cluster is bad then I would suspect a bad dash cluster.
