Pontiac Repair: Instrument cluster, pontiac montana sv6, interior lamps

Question
I have a 2008 Pontiac Montana SV6 with just a little over 72000 Km's on it, I am having a problem with the information part of the instrument cluster where any warning message comes up when I start the van (ie... passenger door ajar, and parking brake still on) at first, I thought it would go away, but I could be driving for a long time, and the message still stays there, it won't let me change different read outs when I want to check tire pressure or to see how far I have traveled, etc... The only time those warning messages go away, is if I turn off ignition and then restart. Is there something I can do to stop this from happening?

Thanks, Albie

Answer
Hi there:

there has to be some soret of an issue with the communication between the IPC and the body control module(S) those warning override any of the input you do with the info switch by the radio. I would stop by one of the big box autoparts stores and see what is nay codes are stored in this van and go from there. you could have multiple issues with different parts in this van and that is why the warnings are coming on. Passenger doors (sliding) are always an issue on these vans and I can see the warnings going on for those for sure. do the interior lamps stay (dome)on when you are driving down the road? that would indicate a door jam switch on one of the doors... once you see what codes are stored you can go from there. good luck :-}
