Pontiac Repair: Chevy Uplander Lug nut removal, chevy uplander, hub flange

Question
Hi Todd, I hope you don't mind me coming to a Pontiac page for a Chevy question.  Anyway my question is simple.  I have a 2005 Chevy Uplander that I bought used.  I did a brake job on it a few years ago and noticed a few of the lug nuts and studs were stripped.  Its now time to replace the pads again and I thought it would be a good idea to replace those few bad studs and lug nuts.  Can you tell me if they are just pushed into place as I have heard some are actually screwed in?  Not sure if that's the case with my van but I just don't want to jump in there with a punch if I'll need another tool.  Thanks

Tim

Answer
Hi Tim:

they are actauuly pressed into the hub flange. you can use a hammer a pound the stud out of the flange. intoder to install new ones get an actual nut the same size thred as the stud and a few washers. push the stud in from the rear of the flange put the washers over the stud. then thred the nut onand tighten the nut. the stud has a cerated edge and it will bute the flange ans it's pulled in by tightening the nut. once the stud bottoms out against the back of the flange your done. good luck :)
