Pontiac Repair: Trouble with a supercharger, intake manifold gasket, grand prix gtp

Question
I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.8L.  I am told it has a problem with the supercharger.  It is misfiring after a tune-up and replaced o2 sensor upon acceleration.  The engine light will flash if I need to quickly accelerate.  Can you repair a supercharger, or am I looking at having to replace the whole thing?

Answer
Hi Tonya:

I have yet to see a super charger cause a misfire concern. I have seen them go bad and are noisey but not cause a misfire. you could have a supercharger to intake manifold gasket that is bad and that will cause issue but rarely a misfire usually a lean code and a higher that normal idle. if you have a misfire that is bad enough to cause a flashing lamp I would venture to say it's an ignition system issue like a bad plug wire set or a cracked spark plug. I would have someone else look at it for you before you dump that amount of $ into a supercharger. to anser your question we do not fix them her in the delaership we order exchange units from a rebuilder. good luck :)
