Pontiac Repair: 97 Gran Prix DTC 1870, gran prix, valve body

Question
I have a 97 Gran Prix GT 3.8 with 160K miles.  The car runs great.  I have a DTC 1870.  Can I fix the trans without pulling it out.  Fluid is full and looks and smells normal.

Answer
Hi Ron:

if it didn't have as may miles on it as you stated I would say yes all it would need is a pressure control soelnoid to correct this. BUT with well over 100K and approaching 200K Your better of having it repaired out of the car and freshened up. At the very least it will need a valve body and the pressure solenoid. The control solenoid can be repalced with the trnasmission still in the car. good luck :)
