Pontiac Repair: 2002 Pontiac Sunfire headlamp issue, 2002 pontiac sunfire, pontiac sunfire

Question
Hi Todd,
I'm having several problems with my car lately. Most recently, the left headlamp stopped working. I replaced both headlight bulbs (left %26 right)--assumed it had just burned out.  Still isn't working--the right side %26 all other lights work. When shifting into gear, both headlights flash multiple times %26 the service light comes on.  The highbeams work on both sides.  I checked all fuses--the cigarette lighter fuse was blown--replaced that--it never worked before.  The cig lighter now works--the headlight still does not.
Also, I've heard a "chirping" sound when driving between 20-35mph.
Any thoughts?  Thanks!
Jen

Answer
Hi Jen:

more then likely this has a wiring problem with corroded splices in the forwards lamp harness. Pretty common issue with this car especially if you live in a damp climate! your better off replacing the harness for the lamps instead of trying to find the problem in there if you do find the bad wire splices the repairs don't last and it happens again. The noise could be wither a serpantine belt or front brake pad warning sensors rubbing on the rotors. Without hearing the noise It's ard to say for sure. Good luck :)
