Pontiac Repair: 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix, Making Noise, pontiac grand prix, 4 quarts

Question
My daughter has a 2003 Grand Prix.  It is making a noise that sounds like a barking dog!  We've replaced the serpentine belt, the tensioner, and it's still doing it.  When we removed the dipstick while running, there was vacuum and the noise stopped.  It would suck your finger at the dipstick opening so there was vacuum coming from it.  Not sure what this could be?  It's also using oil, not leaking at all, and no smoke from exhaust, but it's used over 4 quarts in a month.

Answer
Hi Michael:

wit this have any kind of engine repair done recently like intake manifole gaskets? If not how about an oit change and the PCV valve replaced? If so my guess is the seal that goes under the PCV valve is missing. goto any gm dealer and get a pcv valve kit and replace it. my guess is the valve was taken out and someone forgot ro swap the old o-ring seal off the old valve to the new one. the engine is leaking vacuum past the valve and into the crank case causing the noise and increased oil consumption. Good luck :)
