Pontiac Repair: Front wheel ABS brakes, pedal pulses, rear hubs

Question
Hi. 2002 montana. Front ABS brakes are acting up.Whenever vehicle  steering when driving is turned right or left, there is a moaning sound. The ABS light on the panel is off and as soon as the brakes are applied easily the pedal pulses and the van won't come to a fast stop.At times the ABS light will come on and the van will brake real good.I had it at the shop and they claimed the right front hub unit was the cause, which they replaced. The problem is still there.Just as bad as before they replaced the hub.Is there something that can be disconnected so the ABS brake system can be bypassed as the brakes work great when the ABS light is on all the time.Waiting for your answer. Thanks

Answer
Hey John:

sound to me like you have a wheel bearing (HUB) problem but on the opisite side that was replaced or you had 2 bad hibs on this van. The abs speed sensors are pary of the front and or rear hubs on these cars.. I have see cars/vans that come in the dealership I work that that both hibs are bad. the people were driving it so long with 1 bad hub that when a second one starts to go bad they never even notice the increased noise/vibration.. So I think that is what happeneded and or is going on here.. You can pull the fuse for the ABS system and that will diable the system. good luck :)
