Pontiac Repair: cant turn key, wd 40, insterment

i have a 1999 pontiac grand am , i went to start it today and i cannot turn the key, i tried the spare , nothing, car is in park , remote start works, everything , but i cannot turn key, steering wheel is not locked   thanks mark

Hi Mark:

if the key(s) will not turn in the ignition lock cylinder either the cyclinder it's self is jamed in the housing or one or more of the tumblers are stuck in the cylinder. You can try a quick spray of wd-40 in the cylinder and then tap on the end of the key with a blunt insterment like the handle of a screwdriver while tryin to turn the key if that doesn't work it's either a job for a locksmith or the dealer. good luck :)
