Pontiac Repair: Starter, pontiac transport, engein

I have a 1994 Pontiac Transport 6 cyl. First question is can you take the starter solnoid off without removing the starter? If not how do you get the starter out, I can't see any bolts that hold it in place.

No you have to take the whole unit out and off the engein to replace the solenoid. Do your self a favor if this is the original start on it do not just replace the solenoid buy a remanufactured unit from a GOOD parts store like NAPA or Carquest. There is not thta much of a difference in $ from a new solenoid to a complet reman unit.. You don't want to have to take this apart again in a few months because the motor quit working. Good luck :)
