Motorcycle Repair: Engine wont start after coolant change, honda cbr600f4, coolant level

Question
I just changed the coolant on my Honda CBR600F4 for a track day, using 'Water Wetter' with no antifreeze. Now, I can't start the bike up... it's trying hard, but it never gets going. The coolant level looks fine. Any thoughts?

Answer
Hi Jon.
There is only ONE way that the startup issue could be related to the cooling system and that would be if you had a cracked cylinder or other related internal engine leak.

To be on the safe side, start with the spark plugs.  Pull them and check to see if they are (water) wet.  If they are, then TRAILER the bike to a mechanic and have them check it out.

If the plugs look clean and normal, then start checking the ignition fuse, ignition circuit connections from power to plugs), timing, carb synch, air filter condition (possible airflow impedance) and finally fuel flow (possible fuel pump issue).

Start there and let me know what you find.

Good luck and Ride safe.
