Pontiac Repair: window repair, crunchy sound, seperatly

hello Mr Expert this is my question window is like off of track do not go up or down with switch, motor has a crunchy sound, I can not see the ensemble between the door (I took panel out). how can I check if it is off of track or the cable is broke

What Model car/suv is this? Chances are the regulator cable did snap Thus the crunching sound. The cables are not replaceable it's part of the regulator. depending on the model car the regulator may be service seperatly from the motor which is good it's cheaper that way. If this is a grand Am chaces are also good that it broke one or both of the sash clips off the glass. Those are replaceable but they have to be epoxyed back on to the glass before the regulator is replaced. On most of the cars/vans you can't atually see the cable broken because it's on the back side of the door panel.  Good luck :)
