Pontiac Repair: 20000 pontiac bonneville transmission, neutral safety switch, pontiac bonneville

Question
my transmission just quit at a stoplight in heavy rain before that it was fine no slipping etc. car was towed to my home and a week later it DID engage into gear something it was NOT able to do at all before.someone said neutral safety switch BUT car does start in neutral AND park so not neutral safety switch. could it be a dirty transmission filter or ??? the check engine light did come on shorty before transmission quit, a coincidence?

if the filter is that plugged then you have more issues then just a plugged filter. you first need to see what the trouble code is ion the engine computer it may or may not be related to your transmission issue. even if this transmission had a complete electrical failure of some kind it should still move and be in default of 3'rd gear I think. so there is something wrong here and more then liley it's going to have to come out of the car taken apart and see what broke. usuaslly in this transmission a gear set breaks and then they loose a gears. Any fluid leaks ? possably this transmission was run low of fluid? good luck :0
