Car Stereos: power antenna, power antenna, eddie bauer

Question
I bought a 97 Eddie Bauer Explorer.  It has the factory deck (tape deck with 6 disc changer).  The power antenna is 'stuck' in the upright position but 'clicks' constantly as if it is trying to move up and down but cant.  I have found a replacement on ebay but my question is how do I even remove the original antenna.  It doesnt seem to just unscrew and it doesnt seem to be accessible from under the hood.  The noise is really annoying.  I tried to GOOGLE some help but was unsuccessful.

Answer
Hi Ethan.

thats not an easy procedure sometimes you have to take the whole fender off to be able to get to the little motor, if thats the one causing the problem but im asuming that you are gonna replace the whole thing then if you are you will have to take the fender off, if you were to replace just the antenna pipe some of them just unscrew by twisting them some different ones have 1,2,3 or 4 tinny little screws on the top under a plastic cover.

im not too familiar with that type of Explorer so i cant tell you exacly how to take that fender off and the screw locations. shouldnt be too hard though

Good Luck!

Ed.
