Pontiac Repair: wipers/headlights stop working, pontiac sunfire, daytime running lights

Question
Hi, I recently brought my 2001 pontiac sunfire gt/2.4L to a mechanic to fix a daytime running lights problem. He replaced my multi-function switch, but the problem still prevailed. Then he found 2 wires coming from the headlights corroded were they connect to each other under the battery, so he soldered them - problem fixed. Now intermittently when I use either or my wipers or my headlights, my wipers will stop working and my headlights will not work and go to daytime mode. I told him about it and he suggested a ground problem? any suggestions on were I would even begin to find this if it is the problem?

Answer
Hi Tim.
Yes it's possable. ther is a main body ground under the battert tray as well that may have been disturbed when the wire repair was made and that is a logical answer. However you may shave an issue with the mulitifunction switch on the steering column. As for the headlamps not working ther usually is more then 2 splices that go bad in that lamp harness where it was repaied already I would have him double chek it or better yet if you plan on keeing this car have the whole forward lamp harness replaced and you will not have anymore wiring usses for a while. Good luck :)
