Pontiac Repair: 1996 pontiac grand am 2.4 not firing on 1 and 3 cyl, pontiac grand am, grand am

I have a 96 grand am was running fine parked it overnight got up and started and went to take off and engine had no power and was missing I checked plugs, injectors and coils and even replaced module still nothing on 1 and 3 the plugs are wet and when i switch them out with 2 and 4 plugs those get wet as well i laid the coil housing on top of engine and crank over all ends have good spark i then swapped injectors with 2 and 4 and same two cyl still are dead all compression is about the same at 145-150 i even went ahead and opend up pipe at exhaust to rule out clogged converter and still nothing on 1 and 3 even swapped coils around and nothing I can shut off injectors one at a time with scanner and 1 and 3 don't have any affect i tested map sensor also any ideas??????????

Hey Cal:

well 1/3 are not companion cylinders they are on different coils so the only thing they have in common is the fact that they are both in the same coil housing. I have seen cases where the insulation in the housings breaks down and the cylinders cross fire inside the housing when they are installed and the volatge is ramped up trying to fire the plugs. also take a look at the plug boots and make sure the springs are not missing in the boot and or the boots are not cracked or split. It's gotta be an ignition issue here you eliminated everything else. good luck :)
