Pontiac Repair: Turn Signal Malfunction Switch & Horn, turn signal switch, multifunction switch

Question
I had my malfunction switch repaired the other day on my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE, and now the horn will not work.  The horn was working just fine the morning I brought my car in to have this repair done.  Questioning that this was all somehow related, I went back to the shop and they ran some 'diagnostics' on it and are now claiming that everything with the malfunction repair 'checks out' and that's not the cause of the horn problem and that they need to run 'further diagnostic testing on this'.  I just find it a little ironic that I had a perfectly functioning horn prior to bringing my car in to have this turn signal switch repaired and now it doesn't work.  I know very little about cars (and it's obvious to others) and being a female, going into the shop alone, worry that I may be taken advantage of.  How likely is it that this could, in fact, all be related and something that happened when the malfunction switch was being repaired?

Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

Answer
Hi Erin:

without seeing it I can't tell you for sure But My Guess is that the issue wis indeed with the multifunction switch. The horn circuit runs through the switch. ther is a plunger on that swaithc the rides on a part called a cancel cam in the steering column. If they broke or bet the contact on the new switch it will not make contact with the cancel can and then you will not have a horn that works. The other possability is if they had the horn pad (air bag) module off the steering wheel they forgot to hook the horn wire back up or it poped out of the cancel cam on under the air bag.
Good luck :)
