Pontiac Repair: 94-95 Grand AM ICM, obd ii, ground connections

Question
I have two 2.4L, one DOHC, one SOHC. The 94 spit and sputtered and quit. Turned over, would not restart. Found ICM was bad. Put in a new ICM, three weeks and it quit again. Swapped ICM to the 95 and it would not start either. Do not want to keep replacing ICM's at $200.
Any idea why ICM is going bad?
Thank You

Answer
Hi Richard:

I believe the Modules are different on these engines. They look the same but they are not. Maybe an aftermarket one says they are the same for both engines But I belive they are different if you buy O.E. modules. In 1995 The engine went from a 2.3 to a 2.4 engine and the electronics changes as well making way for OBD II that came out in 1996. I'm not sure why you would keep blowing out modules other then the fact you put the wrong on in the car. The only other thing I would check is make sure all your ground connections are good at battery,Battery tray and on the engine block. There are a few ground connections on the transmission to engine attachment bolts. Give the small wires a good tug and make sure they do not break off or show any signs of corrosion. Good luck :)
