Pontiac Repair: doorlocks, pontiac montana, wire colors

HI, 99 pontiac montana bought used, no remote, door locks no longer unlock at power buttons, but lock fine, worked when bought, but all of the sudden, neither drvr or pass side will unlock any suggs.?? also will work fine with the passkey to lock and unlock.thanks

Yup this is a pretty common issue. You have a wiring issue here. pull up the carpet on the right side of the car in the front seat. under the sill plate on the right side of the car is a wire harness. there are 2 splices in that harness that rot out. the wire colors to look for are white and light blue. the splice's corrode and break. the water that gets tracked it to the van from snow or rain or even if the van has a water leak it collects right where that harness sits and the wires break. the splice if for the door lock switches. The keyless entry and the auot door lock feature when you put the van in gear are tied into the van's wiring further up the harness and are not effected by the break in the wiring. Good luck :0
