Pontiac Repair: Dash Lights, blown fuse, back lighting

Question
I have a 2004 Grand Am. One of the dash lights is out. I was wondering how they work? How hard it is to replace, and how much would it cost??
Thanks

Answer
Hi Robert:

do you mean the back lighting when the headlamps are on or the indicators "idiot light" don't work? I ASSUME you mean the back lighting when the headlmaps are on. You could have something as easy as a blown fuse.or it would be something like the dimmer switch on the left side of the dash board or the head lamps switch it's self. As simple a system as you think this is in involves 2 switches and a fuse. so it can be any of them as the cause. Good luck :)
