Pontiac Repair: 2002 Bonneville rumbling noise, tie rod ends, power steering pump

Question
I am experiencing a rumbling sound when driving my 2002 Bonneville. At first I thought it may have been low tire pressure or something like that because it sounds like knob tires, however the tire pressure is fine and the noise started a few days ago. The last rotation was about 3 months ago and the tires are about a year old. I also replaced the tie-rod ends on the front and the struts on the back within the last year. The noise I am hearing occurs only when the vehicle is moving and starts about 25-30 mph and changes tone as the vehicle moves faster. At highway speeds it is just a really annoying humming sound. I am not feeling any kind of vibration or pulling in the steering wheel, but if I move the wheel slightly from side to side the sound seems to move from driver's side to passenger's side. Everyone I have spoken to is at a loss. I have had suggestions ranging from power steering pump, air condition condenser, wheel bearing, alternator bearing. Could you PLEASE give me a clue as to what I am looking for. Thanks

Answer
Hi Chad:

try this when your driving and the noise is at it's worst just turn the steering wheel a bit to the right or the left if the noise changes "pitch" then it's a wheel bearing that is bad in one of the hubs. or possably both. see if you can narrrow down which side it's comming from. If one of them is bad enough the noise will travel through the car and make it sould like it's from the other side. Usually it's one of the front ones that go bad. Pretty common on these cars! Good luck :)
